报告摘要:We discuss some fundamental physics problems in the nano-optics, that include the interference of the surface plasmon waves, the transient surface plasmon polariton, the diffraction of a metal slit, the modelling of the metallic near-field imaging superlens and the optical radiation force on the nano-particle in the highly focused beams. Our contributions to nano-optics are not only based on the popular numerical solutions by the finite difference in time domain (FDTD), the finite element methods (FEM), but also on the generalized Lorentz-Mie scattering theory with the T-matrix and the mathematics for analytical solutions of the Maxwell’s equations, which provide more physical insight. The developed theory may be useful in the design of nano-photonics devices, nano-lithography and optical manipulation on the nano-particels and biological cells.
报告人简介: Dr. Yunlong Sheng received Doctor degree in Optics in 1982, and ‘Docteur d’État’ degree in Physics in 1986, both in France. He joints the Center for Optics, Photonics and Lasers (COPL), University Laval Quebec Canada since 1985 and is now a full professor. His research interest involves nano-optics, optical trapping, diffractive optics, optical wavelet transform, pattern recognition, optical signal processing, object detection and image processing. Dr. Sheng has published more than 250 technical papers in the major international journals with referee and in the international conferences. Dr. Sheng holds 2 international patents for the invention of the fabrication techniques of the complex fiber Bragg gratings (FBG), one of the major industrial optical components used in the optical fiber communication networks. His publications received more than 2300 citations with the h-index of 26. Dr. Yunlong Sheng has been elected as a Fellow member of the International Society of Optical Engineering (SPIE) in 1999 and of the Optics Society of America OSA in 2005. Prof. Yunlong Sheng is an invited professor, adjunct professor and visiting professor in the National Central University in Taiwan, Swinburne University in Australia, ShenZhen University in China, Graduate University of the Academy of Science China and Institute of Opto-electronics, Academy of Science China.
